Launch of a pioneering carbon neutral holiday cottage

The ultimate green holiday has now become a reality with the launch of Lowen – a zero carbon holiday cottage in Cornwall.

Lowen - Bosinver's new carbon neutral holiday cottage

Bosinver Farm Cottages will be hosting an open day from 11am to 5pm with hourly tours of Lowen and its ‘green’ features, which are:

o It was built using reclaimed timber and straw bales that were rendered with natural lime.
o Solar panels and a ground source heat pump provide hot water and heating.
o Photovoltaic panels convert sunlight into electricity and send 9 Kilowatts of power into the grid and provide income
o Rainwater from the roof is captured and used for toilet flushing and laundry
o Furnished using ethically sourced, recycled and locally created luxury contemporary fittings and furnishings wherever possible.
o The landscaping has used native hedgerow plants and wild flowers that provide a valuable habitat for wildlife

Mark Smith and family from Bosinver who constructed the new holiday cottage themselves will be available for interview.
